Ok its been a while since I was here but am trying to help a neighbour with their alarm. Between the both of us we have possibly the worst alarms on our e36s.... mine has the 3T and his the 2T.
Anyways.... for some reason the alarm on his goes off now whenever he opens the door. Once shut back up it resets itself after a short while but obviously cant be used in that state with the hazards going. The car does start regardless as the 2T is only an alarm and no immobiliser. The remote does not arm or disarm the car anymore and the car can only be unlocked from the boot but it seems to me that the locking is no longer telling the alarm that it needs to shut off.
Any ideas on how to fix it or where to look to disable it?
Thanks guys TIA

It's probably going to be a fault with a door switch, a sticky central locking motor or the control unit/wiring and you need the original BMW dealer hand held diagnostic fault reader to find the fault and reset everything. These old Sigma alarms are just a pain now. Remove it by removing the complete glovebox assembly. The alarm control unit is mounted by the other ECUs for central locking, wipers etc. The wires from the alarm unit are all black, but follow each one and reconnect the original car loom where the alarm wires splice in the connectors - ignition switch, hazard switch, door, bonnet and boot switches, two motion sensors etc. About an hours work.robbo86 wrote: Anyways.... for some reason the alarm on his goes off now whenever he opens the door.
