All the best with the LCD replacement. Did you source the screen from the UK or overseas? Hard to know how the quality varies between all of the different suppliers.
I bought mine from PartWorks. https://partworks.de/briefware-inland-d ... r-bc2.html.deltaclipper wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:43 amAll the best with the LCD replacement. Did you source the screen from the UK or overseas? Hard to know how the quality varies between all of the different suppliers.
They are all made in China anyway.
Hi both. I bought one off ebay , as you say they're all chinese in any case. Initially after changing the LCD the display was fine with the exception of a missing letter /symbol. I had read that this could be due the two rubber type stipes which fit on both sides of the LCD may have a poor connection so I stripped it down again and gave everything a gentle wipe and a s light spray of contact cleaner allowing it to dry with the use of a hair dryer , now the display bares no resemblance to English and now I'm without an OBC. I've got an early type with a ribbon connector and a later model and despite swopping parts I still have the same problem, There is one for sale on ebay for an E28 which I think will fit after changing the rear cover but I'm holding it for an E30 so BUMP pleasetwenty wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 7:25 pmI bought mine from PartWorks. https://partworks.de/briefware-inland-d ... r-bc2.html.deltaclipper wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:43 amAll the best with the LCD replacement. So do you want a complete working 'box' but no other OBC wiring/parts? I have a large box of sets which I sourced 15+ years ago, but can't remember exactly what works and what does not.

Out of curiosity, what lead you to think the OBC you have is damaged?
Hi , there are two types of 13 Button OBCs, the difference I can see that the early ones are different in that the circuit board connection between that and the front section is that it is connected via a 7/8? connection strip and the later ones haven't which makes it easier to dismantle .deltaclipper wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 10:51 amOut of curiosity, what lead you to think the OBC you have is damaged?
I managed to break the connection on the ribbon but resoldered them back on , That maybe the problem, I have 2 other OBCs but neither work ATM
I have ordered on ebay a new LCD screen and the two connector strips which lay either side of the screen from a Company in Germany . I've previously bought two "Chinese" manufactured screens both were no good so I'll revisit this when its fitted and update .

...sorry for the delay - I'm going through 30 years of collecting spares for my VW Subaru BMW and others, and I haven't found the box of OBC spares yet - I'll see if I can find it over the weekend.
