Spotted this on eBay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161386863137? ... 1423.l2649

And it looks like a lot of car for the money. Apart from the fact that I'd look like a right coont driving it, it ticks a lot of boxes for me :o:

I think you have to be careful here. if you worry about everything you read, you'll never buy anything. And type any make or model into google, and you'll find negatives.

Jags? Rust!
Alfas? Electricals!
BMW's? Sealed for life Auto Gearboxes or module failures
Saabs? Gearboxes

And so on...... Including the marque that was the original epitome of reliability from Sweden

If you want reliability then go to the land of the rising sun but even then they aint what they were.

Find a manual one ?

My only Volvo experience was a £600 V40 but what a car ! Fabulously well built, not a speck of rust on it anywhere and it was pretty easy to work on too. I would definitely have another Volvo but I'm not a fan of autos in any marque really.

..are X5s not worth a look? I've never seen them mentioned on here before... I'm guessing that means they're either rubbish or too council for zone executive types to consider :D

Beemerbird isn't a tattooed thug so an X5 is out. XC90's are probably the most socially acceptable 4x4. An unrusty older Merc ML may be a goer....?

Friend of mine had one, on a 10 plate (bought new) and whilst a reliable motor was damn thirsty, recently chopped it in for a new XC60, much better in his opinion, though it did break down in France and had to be recovered back to the UK. Volvo assist gave him a hire car and paid all the expenses. All this for one relay that packed up!
XC90, cabin is dull as dishwater IMO.

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...
