THey can be, My Mrs has one..

Currently tearing my hair out trying to get parts correct for it..

they are damn cool though, and parts not too bad price wise..

the Gti is the one to have though.

They rot worse than an E30

Fuel filler necks commonly rot out and contaminate the fuel system.

if you get a manual one the Clutch cable mounting in the bulkhead is a common weak spot - not just for rot - the metal is too thin so the cable mount actually pulls through the bulkhead. Needs a reinforcing plate welded in and its a bit tricky to get at.

a 1.6 Auto will be a slug.

As above if you get one the GTi is the one to go for

ditto on the clutch cable section..

It was not fun to weld.

We bought one that was great bodily..now to sort suspension etc :cry:
