Sorry I was thinking it was like a hemi in the way it shuts down half the cylinders

Oh! I see! Like that chrysler hemi engine in the 300c. Clever technology that.

Nah the old 1960s hemicudas etc just had combustion chambers that meant they could generate much power or torque or both or sommat. :cool:

hemi is short for HEMIspherical, it refers to the shape of the combustion chambers.

tbh its old technology now and a closed pent roof chamber (aka pent roof hemi) much like nearly all modern 4valve engines is much preferred to the original hemi designs.
