They are pretty solid as a sure, downside is their manual gearbox, you can move the lever almost to nuteral in every gear the lever is that slack, thats from new, it only gets worse. Provided you can live with that, they are a good buy if you can get one for a decent price. 124k is alot of miles for that age car though, FMBSH is a must as parts are notoriously expensive.

on an SLK yes, next to none of them were used as daily drivers, just make sure its got full comprehensive Service History, ideally main dealer. and remember the manual gearbox is weird and takes some getting used to all the lever movement when in gear.

Do the clk's have the same rust problem as the c and e-class around the arches?

They don't seem too, not seen a CLK or SLK with rust issues, can't really figure out why are the CLK is very similar to the c class and they share many common parts. Good for CLK and SLK owners though.

my mate owns the exact model your on about and hes had issues with rust in many places, arches, back number plate area, front grill area. They r rust prone, but solid and pretty nippy motors.

I had one with 100K it had more rust than my E30 1989, but that was the only issue, all the rest was almost perfect, still it was not easy to sell

thats why i would have one, worth peanuts and people can be dragged kicking and screeming down on price, especially on 1 owner cars, they don't realise its totally worthless.

Almost got an 05 CLK 270 CDI a few years ago (it was about 3 years old), Silver, Cream Leather Blue tinted windows, 1 owner from new, 93k going for £17k, full dealer history and had been serviced about 1k ago. Its over the odds but it did look nice.
