Hello All, I have left the e30 fraternity after 2 years and one complete rebuild my e30 is off to australia with its next owner!!
I wne t out and bought a cosmos black m3 evo and i love it!

however, i cannot find a peugeot forum with half as much technical prowess as this forum, so, the 106 has some problems - can anyone help?? cheers

I have bought a 1.4L 106 Quicksilver to fix and hopefully turn into a track day car.
It has done 115k miles and has a full service history, with one lady owner from new.
The garage that declared it broken said to the previous owner”“ it has an ecu and/or wiring problem that will be too costly to fix, there may also be a problem with the lambda sensor (this information is unverified)

The problem;
It is only firing on 3 cylinders ”“ possibly 2! But I managed to drive at 70mph for 2 hrs home.

The initial work;
I inspected the (brand new) spark plugs, 2 & 3 were covered in black oil, 1 & 4 were perfect.-this makes me think that only 2 cylinders were firing!?

I removed the injectors and measured the resistance:
1)15Ohm
2)2.8Ohm”¦ then oOhm ïaa
3)15.5Ohm
4)12.3Ohm”¦ (too low?) whats the spec?

Solution:
Replace the broken injector and the 2 fouled sparkplugs (can I clean them up with carb cleaner?)

Question:
Could it be an ecu problem?
How do I replace an ECU ”“ do I need to buy an unlocked one, and will it work with my existing keys?
Should I just replace the engine ”“ if so which is the best choice for cheap track work ”“ 1.6 16v?
Anyone got 2 injectors or an unlocked ECU for sale?

I've fiddled with 106's a fair bit. Got one in at the moment and a Saxo.

I had one misfiring in winter. Tryed everything plugs, injectors, etc. Turned out to be ecu. Bought Ecu, key, halo and little black box under dash off my mate for £40.

Fairly common for the injectors to go faulty, with a resistance reading like you have on number 2 i'd stick an injector in it and go from there.

if that was showing 0-2Ohms then it would suggest that the coil/solenoid in the injector has failed, most likely leaving it stuck shut or wide open, id be suspicious of the 12ohm one as well, it might be on its way out. ether way as suggested above try a new set of injectors.

So I did a compression test on my misfiring 106 and found the following;

Dry PSI / Wet PSI
Cylinder 1 - 15/17 ”“ FAIL not the rings, must be a valve. whitish spark plug
Cylinder 2 - 50/60 ”“ PASS -dead injector - black spark
Cylinder 3 - 35/90 ”“ FAIL ”“ Rings, but I put too much oil in the cylinder for the wet test so result might be meaningless? - black spark
Cylinder 4 - 50/55 ”“ PASS - tan spark plug

I assume the engine is dead?
