Any NSU deviants on here?

That 1200 this is horrible but an Ro80 was cool for its time.

Shame the rotary engine was unreliable which killed sales and it off.

The engine in the Ro80 didn't just kill sales. It killed NSU. The Ro80 was a very advanced design for its time. Even now, it looks modern. Most ended up with Ford v4s in them, sadly.
They also did the Prinz IIRC?

The 1200 (and previous 1000) is like a German Hillman Imp. The TT versions are pretty sought after and I bet that 1200 will end up as a historic (or Hysteric) racer.
Ro80's are great. Obscure fact 2 = same doors as the VW K70 which was the NSU K70, an Ro80 follow up that VW put into production once they bought NSU.
The factory in Neckarsulm still has the 'NSU WERKE' signs in places.

That 1200 is
.
Both it and the Ro80 always look better in the flesh than on pics IMO. Something about them that I can't put my finger on.

Claus Luthe wasn't just involved in the design of the E30, he was BMW's head of design after Paul Bracq.rh306 wrote:..obscure fact corner... the Ro80 was designed by Claus Luthe, who was also involved in the design of the E30
Luthe was responsible for all BMW's released in the 80's AFAIK and the E36 as well.
