May be someone can help me with automatic gear box on toyota rav4 2.0 (2000). Car drives fine when accelerating harder, but if pressing accelerator pedal gently then the revs go up and gear only "kicks" in after few seconds, it is literally kicks in and hit can be heard. When driving on motorway there is no noticeable problems, and it get worse after it runs for a while (it's kind of ok from start). This fault developed after 600 miles trip. All oil levels are good. The Toyota Service people saying that gear box is f***ed. I don't trust them at all, even if they are right, it's always better to have other opinion. Any help or advice? may be someone know good automatic gear box specialist in south south-west london?
thanks
Toyota RAV4 (2000) auto gearbox problems

how many miles has it done?
has it ever had the gearbox oil changed? i know modern autos are supposed to be 'dealed for life' but that's bollocks, a fluid change every now and then will work wonders.
if it's never been done it's got to be worth a try, surely easier / cheaper than changing the gearbox?

it might be interesting for someone, the gearbox was rebuild for ££££ amount of money and it did not fix the problem, so car was going in and out the garage for about a month, at the end the ecu was changed and bingo!, drives as new, the mechanic still trying to say that gearbox needed a rebuild, because it has something damaged but I personally think that he just trying to justify the charge. anyways my mate put car up for sale, cause he could not wait all that time and bought another one
