Come on then. Lets see those scanned in shots of bygone cars YOU'VE owned. More for the old boys on here.

No e30's. Lets see some retro shite!

I'll start

1977 Fiat 131 from 1982. Yes that my Wedge you can see in the background!

Image

The Granadas I had

1977 Mk1 3.0 Ghia

Image
Image

1979 Mk2 2.8 Ghia

Image
Image

1983 2.8 Ghia X

Image
Image

1985 2.8i Scorpio

Image

Saab Turbo

Image

Open Senator 3.0 CD

Image

XR4x4

Image

I fell from grace when i got married. Down graded to this to buy the house.

Image

But soon got back on track.

Volvo 760 GLE. Don't laugh. These were a serious chariot

Image

Toyota Celica 2.0 GTI

Image

Then came the 5's

1989 525iSE M20

Image

1993 525iSE M50TU

Image

And roughly up to date. This was sold to make way for the Company shit boxes.

Image

And the B7 fleet gone by that the wife used

When we got married, this was our best car

1985 1.3C Golf

Image

We then upgrade to a brace of XR2i's

Image
Image

Our first MX5

Image

The Golf GTIs

Image
Image

The RAV4 :o:

And the last MX5 (Eunos S-Limited)

Image

Which brings me up to date.

Show me yours!

Ok so as per OP my old turds not including my 3 previous E30's

Image
Mk1 Golf 1.3LS 5 Door - My first car - Loved it ! :D
Image
Capri 1.6 Cabaret - with 2.8i Pepperpots and a Twin Choke weber carb - slow but still loved it
Image
Met with a very sticky end
Image
Mk1 Astra 1.3s - A stop gap after the Capri - first car I owned with a 5 Speed Box - handled well but can't really say much else about it.
Image
Cavalier SRi - first Fuel Injected car, fantastic Recaro seats - and to this day the most I have ever paid for insurance on a car ( £688 - I was 20 ! ) - sold to make way formy first E30 in the same pic

Image
My 2.8i - still miss it
Image
Mk2 8v GTi - The most hatefil sh1tter I have ever had the misfortune to own
Image
2.3GT - Loved this car and it was cheap ! Under £500 with a Years ticket and completely rust free - unfortunately mechanical issues a year later meant I couldn't be arsed to fix it so flogged it for spares.

Had a Black G Reg XR3i after this but no photobucket pic

Image
red top 16v GTE - this was a bit ragged round the edges but quick as fook - I further ruined it by fitting a full Janspeed exhaust :o:

Sold and replaced with a K reg Cavalier 2.0CDi - dull - never even took a Pic, which was then sold for my Black E30 320iSE, then had a company turd, then this :

Image
328i Manual with LSD and Half Leather - I was the second owner and it had 56k on the clock when I bought it - to date still the best car I've owned.

Then had a company turd, then got made redundant and bought this :
Image
A4 1.9 TDi SE - proper Ice cold aircon and 50mpg without trying - loved it but bought a saloon when really I needed an estate or hatchback so after a Year it was replaced :

Image
323i SE - This was a really mint car, 1 Owner, 90k On the clock, Full main dealer history and not a mark on it. Really liked it but was constantly worried about it getting damaged parking it at work so decided to downgrade to something I wouldn't worry about

Image
8v GTi with Aircon. Everything worked but it was slow and generally not very nice to drive

And thats it - got a 2.0 TDCI 02 plate mondeo now which isn't worth a photo :D

Sadly not - it was the earlier 1.8i - same engine as in the Mk1 Astra GTE - still went like stink in comparison to everything I'd had before it though 8)

Morgan 4/4,bought brand new and collected from the factory at Malvern 1 Mar '82.

Placed my order when I was posted to Cyprus in 1975....kept the thing 18 months and sold it to fund a business venture.

Perfectly true what you read about the things,if you run over a penny you can tell if it was heads or tails up!

Daimler V8 Saloon.
Image
Image
Bought in May '00 as an early 50th birthday pressie from me to me.

Developed it with bigger front brake calipers and power rack and pinion steering, two items that improved my convidence no end in driving it properly!
Took it to Spain and over the Alps into Italy. Kept for 8 years.

Heres a few more from me of cars in the family

Loved these! This was the 2.0 carb facelift. But Hearing aid beige????? 8O Bought new in 82 by Bro. I took it on in about 86 and it was going rusty then. Decided to stick with the silver 2.8 Ghia Granada and out this despite it being 3 years newer.

Image

This was the first resto project I was ever involved in. 1936 Sliding head Morris 8. Won a few prizes and was bought buy Caffyns MD on the south coast.

Image
Image
Image

Another Resto, this one my own.

Bought in 88 as a project, it took me 11 years to finish, won 2 best of shows and 2 best in classes.

As bought, a one owner from 1966 (it was a 65) 12/50 Herald

Image

Gotta love a trophy!!

Image
Image
Image
Image

and the day before it went to its new owner I thought it pertinant that the original owners wife had a last run in it. her husband sadly passed away before it was finished.

Image

Been involved with Lotus in the past as well due to Bro. The Morris 8 was replaced by this, A very early plus 2 Elan but fitted with a big valve 130BHP lump. Was partly through completion when it was sold to Holland. Note my old Saab in the background. The black e30 right at the back was Brand new at this time, an aug 88 316i. The white e34 was also brand new, early 89 525i SE loded to the hilt.

Image
Image

Back in the late 70's, this was his daily for a year or two. S2 Europa which Colin Chapman decided was a good idea to supply with a f*cking Renault 16 lump  . This was ELSE converted though, which meant it had hot head, hurry up cam, powermax pistons, 45 DCOE weber and a throughflow exhaust. It was no slouch and probably even now is one of the best most neutral handling cars I've ever experienced.

Image
Image

And this is one I used to look after for a local guy. He used to supply my floor coverings at a good rate, I looked after the stag. He had me restore the engine bay and do all sorts of stuff on it. Last i heard it was stolen.

Image
Image
Image

I'll add to this as and when i find more but heres a few to tickle the taste buds.

Mate used to baby sit this. Was for sale not long ago. Not sure if it's sold yet

Image

Brother in laws Metro Turbo Pugged up and rebuild for the LAST time to sell

Image

Replaced with this. I loved this car but sadly, he wrapped it sideways around a lampost in Stevenage in the ice

Image

Mate Andy's 3 Door cosworth

Image

Mate Marcus's 4x4 Cosworth Sapphire

Image

A funny evening this. Take one Canon SLR, the Esher A3 roundabout, some sticky tyres and a company Orion Ghia and you have serious entertainment. Later on we were pouring SW20-50 under the fronts and smoking villages out!!

Image

And finally my best mates past fleet.

UR Quattro. A f*cking legend of a car

Image

and pictured with my XR4x4 at a track day at Goodwood

Image

This was about 1985. he blew the 2.0 pinto up. Fit an essex 3.0??? Jog on! 3.5 Rover p6 V8 went in. You can just see the carbs peek out the engine bay winkeye . Snapped leafsprings for breakfast this one. I remember us embarrassing a young guy trying to impress his bird with his brand new S1 Turbo Escort on the way to Hampton Court one night!!!

Image

And the first of his 16v Golfs. Early D plater this. Note the quarter lights. This was never off the red line, was ragged relentlessly and then sold to bro in law to replace the xr4i above that was round some lamp post!

the Toyota 4AGE engine is quite iconic and is used in many different cars (kit cars, home builds etc) as well as the legendary Corola AE86. It's a great lump... nice engine with the supercharger as well (4AGZE)

Found a couple more.

Best mates 2wd Cosworth Sapphire with another mates S1 Turbo Escort, at South Mimms on the way to the Fast Ford fair at silverstone. That S1 was owned by him for 13years, sold for what was top dollar about 4 years ago? Was on eBay very recently for £12995! This was a PROPER example and original mint.

Image

And heres something different. A Harris F1 frame running a GSXR1100 lump. Originally built by Ian King (now into top fuellers I believe) and featured in the Crossbow calendar of 1987 I think with Tracy Elvic draped all over it. Was looking very dated so he asked me to paint it. Gave me a blank canvas but with a rough idea. That was 1992. it's still in his garage now. Pushing 160hp or something like that :?

Image

And finally, dear old dads Granadas. Now this is REALLY going back. Probably about 1977 this? A 3.0 Manual XL with Blue vinyl interior

Image

and it's replacement in about 1980. this was a classic colour scheme of the day. Roman Bronze with Tan roof. 3.0 auto GL

Here's various pictures of the crap i've owned, this a small selection of the cars i've actually had,but I think you get the idea of the standards here!

The pictures are terrible as I found them scunched up in a box in the loft,it makes the cars look all out of shape, mind, some of them probably were!

This is my first car and me on the left, circa 1978,got written off by having a head on crash with the blue car on the right!
Image

Next is Dads Hillman Minx,a little earlier, about 1976
Image

Me,Dad,Zeebee & a 1600E circa 1978,this was Dads pride & joy,Notice the twin aerials?!
Image

My first car, aged 15,another chance to whore the boards with R5 goodness, doing a wheel spin or something
Image

Thats me on the right!
Image

Next came my fab Yamaha FS1E,the real deal and I still have this,it's part of me!
Image

I'm second from left here, loaded up with fuel cans for another hot summers day tearing about in the R5!
Image

Another Fizzy shot, but with Dads Mk3 Cav 1.6L in the back ground.(And Jess the cat)
Image

My first car on the road,a total nail, but would still crack a ton!
Image

My first decent car,Mazda 323LX,mint condition, for a 1300 went pretty damn well and handle exceptionally.
Also Dads Banana car in the back ground.
Image

After the Mazda got wrote off after being rear ended I bought this, the classic Astra SR.
Image

Next came this brace of turds,my SD1 which cost me an 1/8th of green stuff,no T&T,no log book,no nothing, good job I never got pulled over in this.
In the back ground is my Volvo 360DL,had 3 of these horrors!
Image

I then bought my first hot hatch, this mint GTE,wicked car, frightening handleing!
Image

I sold the Astra a year later for 50 quid loss, not bad there,I then replaced it with the Landy, this is one vehicle I still miss, had to get shot of it as I blew a piston through the block! The happened shortly after I towed a 33 ft monster of a caravan I bought.
Image

I loved this bugger, good old Beirut Taxi, this was an incedible motoerway car,Maryport to Swindon in 3 hours,do the maths for the average speed!
Image

Good old Golf GTI,was shit TBH.
Image

My Merc 308,earned me some good money until I got sick of repairing wheel bearings & king pins, saw some good times in this with the missus!
Image

This is the first car I rebuilt, top of the line VDP,bought for a 6 pack of lager, got it MOT and even did some successful welding, spraying etc!
Image

My first E30 late 87 model,a 325i with high comp engine, this car took some serious abuse and TBH i'm surprised I never died in it,or it the fact that it never died on me!
Image

1971 Herald,I bit off more than I could chew with this and sold two years later having achieved pretty much bugger all.
Image

And my current Touring, this was taken about 8 years ago.
Image

Those mid 80's Mazda 323's were a f*cking good car Rog. I rebuilt the rear end on a C plate one of these for a guy I used to car share with. One week we'd go in my e34 (which was 4 years old), the next in his old 323. And you know what? We paid 60 quid for it, £30 for a rear bumper, light and a bit of paint and the thing went on for another 4 years until he drove it into the breakers and retired to Almeria! Was an epic old shed!

While Diamond white was a common colour for the Mk1's it was very rare with the Tan roof. The Ghias had a vinyl trim panel between the rear lights and even that was Tan vinyl. There was no black trim inside either. the dash, centre console, steering wheel (inc the leather) was tan and being the Ghia it had the complete velour seats (yes you've geussed it, in tan) and the tan velour headlining.

I only ever saw another Mk1 Ghia like it and that was a rare Coupe in the same year as mine.

Bought new by one of the Evans brothers from Evans Autos in North Cheam in Surrey. They are a very respectable car sales place dealing in late high end stuff. He also had an import SD1 with a 4.5 high comp in it!

I wish my old man had kept some his motors... I could have had a small fortune now if he saved them all and gave them to me. lol... I was born in 85 so grew up with dad tinkering with all sorts, he was a at home car trader so always had something different... I lost interest in cars at about 14, then didnt pass my driving test til 21... So, the price of old commoners have gone up way to much for me to fork out which is a shame as I love them. :D

I have been offered a Rover P6 & a Triumph 1300 for cheap prices recently but not sure if I have the time or pennies to be putting into them... Plus like my Marina above, I know I wont end up doing anything with it...

It was indeed a fantastic little car,as I say,it used to go excepionally well.

I used to have brilliant late night race's down a certain stretch of daul carriageway with my best mate, him in a Nova SR,both cars flat out at 110! good old days!

The handleing on was superb,it could thrown around like none of the cars i've owned, and all on stock suspension.

I had a great race one night with a MK1 Fieste XR2,again,before the days of cameras everywhere!

I've tried to find one again,but alas,they've all gone,quite where I don't know as they didn't rust

I meant to say, mine was beyond repair. Before the police showed up (as there were 7 cars involved) I had to hide my CB,it was a bit hot to say the least, this thing would pick up everything, air traffic control, airplanes, emergency services etc,so when I went to shift my seat to hide it,the seats were jammed on the runners, this said to me the chassis had taken a twist :( I was gutted as it was my first decent car too.

I don't have any pics before I had a digital. My first car (a bit tenuous this) was in a 1974 when I was 6. A friend of my Mum had a 1962/3 Austin Mini sat in their garden - it belonged to her son and they wanted it gone. 20 quid changed hands, it was towed home behind my Dad's '73 Mexico, the almost new Peco exhaust robbed for my Mum's 1275GT and the shitheap was parked in the garden for my mates and I to play in. It wasn't long before the strain of kids swinging on the doors broke a door hinge and that was the end of it really.
the first car I ever actually owned properly was a 1970 Austin 1300 in 1982. I had a 1962 Sunbeam Rapier after that - both rotten shitboxes. The first car I owned and drove was a 1977 Mini Van in 1984. The first car I did 100 mph in was a Mark 1 Cavalier, and the first I did 150 in was an XJS V12.
The most expensive car was a 1997 840Ci I had back in 2002. the only car i've ever bought on the drip was a Ford Ka in 1999.
Most outrageous 'steals' - A 1958 XK150S for £100 (a total wreck) in 1989, and a 1996 Mercedes S350D for £500 in 2003. A modest profit was made on both.
