So I’ve just bought an abandoned storage container full of classic minis and spares, one of which has the VIN/chassis numbers attached but no plates.
Is anyone aware of a way to find out the registration number using the VIN?
A search online turned up some old Pistonheads threads suggesting “someone in the trade” could help or HPI the ViN but I can’t see a way of doing that.
Any factual help appreciated.
Reg from VIN?

Unfortunately I know this is an old thread but info might still be useful.
The DVLA, for some obscure reason, file vehicles by reg number ONLY, so they can find the VIN from the reg' number but not the reg' number from the VIN .
Kit car builders (Like me) using VW chassis have this problem and end up with a Q plate even though by the chassis number (no VIN in those days) you can pin the date of manufacture to a month, no good.

Everyone has the right to reach the level of their own incompetence.
