Im about to upgrade the Mrs from her k11 micra to a mk5 Golf gti, manual, 5 door.
Just wondering if anyone has had experience of one of these & also what is the best forum to join?

Just make sure it's not a TDi.. their DPF's are nothing but grief!

My girlfriend has a mk6 gti and I would guess it's the same engine - if so, uses plenty of oil but that's mainly being used in the city.

Cracking all rounder imo.

DPFs are not the only worry when it comes to TDIs.

I like the golf GTI, I'd avoid the DSG box though they're expensive when they go wrong. I've done a couple of turbos on them, and the odd sensor.

Other than that I think they're pretty bomb proof. They are a decent car and can be had for the right money.

I'd avoid VAG forums though, they will tell you to fit 'bags' and fit shiny wheels.
