I have a K11 1998 1.3 micra which has running issues.

It started and ran fine when I got it, but after sitting for a couple of days it only runs for 20 seconds and if you try to rev the engine it will bog down and die. Each time you try to restart it takes longer to start.

Does anyone know any common issues related to this problem?

Thanks

Do you have a local scrap yard within twenty seconds drive? :D
Maybe try some fresh petrol.

Google is your friend > http://www.micra.com.au/technical-artic ... faults.php

See the bit about "Poor idle"...

Also sounds like it could be spark plugs/dizzy/leads related as well.

P.S. As above, scrappies are full of Micras usually, so you can easily do "experiments" with 2nd hand parts to see what's the problem.

Mo. Have the D cap off mate. Being a pre facelift it'll still have one rather than like the later cars with separate coil packs.

Chances are it'll be the original and the centre carbon rod will be fucked as will the rotor arm!

very little goes wrong with these so rule that out first. They are cheap as chips so no reason not to change it.

Firstly why on earth do you own one of these. Secondly, change the fuel filter and maybe drain the old petrol from the tank.

Ours is a late K11(02 plate)so as Trevor mentioned above has coil packs.

Ours has needed only a pair of tyres, spark plugs/filters and the handbrake freeing off in more than 20k miles, just wish that it's regular driver would stop belting the front n/s corner on solid objects!

Might be worth looking through here, as well as any advice given on the Zone.

My Daughter has just bought the same model as you Mo, on my advice, and
I can't fault it, the interior design is so bad that it makes you smile.

Distributor is fine. Still have the same issue. I'm suspecting the throttle body assembly.

I've fitted a couple throttle body units to micras, but never for the fault you've mentioned, usually causes rough idling.
