Jaguar S Type....bought!

This has run faultlessly,apart from the ABS/traction control light issue mentioned above.
I bought a pair of s/h rear ABS sensors and checked their resistance with my meter to give me a 'ballpark' figure for the one's on the car.

Went to remove the n/s rear wheel to discover that the tyre 'fitter' who mounted the new front tyres just before Christmas had destroyed the security wheel nut gadget...so I had to buy a hardened remover kit from ebay.This worked a treat,gave it a tap with a birmingham spanner to start it off and it wound the security bolt off in seconds.Located and checked the ABS sensor and it's resistance reading was wildly different to the replacements,so it was swapped.A quick roadtest showed that I had sorted the problem at the first wheel,just as well,as it took me several hours to seperate the security nut from my new tool and I also damaged my bench vice in the proccess grrr!

But I took the cat for it's MoT this afternoon,and it passed!

With advisories for 'light misting' on both front dampers.

Just upgraded the lights to HID's - what a bitch of a job that was !

Any better light output Rob? I was disappointed on the E39, just lit the first 20 yards in front of the car a bit brighter nut no extra distance at all.

Mine is being run on the basis that if it needs money throwing to be safe,I'll deal with it.
I spent an hour or two earlier this week seeing what else £1k or so would buy me,just in case the Jaguar failed to the point of more than £500!
This is the nice part of retirement,I do not need to be somewhere else by 9am in a morning....

Found a nice-looking Y plate E39 on scumtree,it was a 530i with(non-working!)LPG and a manual 'box,but no need to worry too much for another year,now.

Considerable improvement mate however they were a right ball ache to fit - whilst in theory it is possible to access the back of the lights in situ, unless you have the hands of a baby it ain't gonna happen - so the front bumper has to come off to get the lamp units out.

It's all back together now but one of the bulbs has a slight flicker which means that I may need to do it all again as its either a bad connection somewhere on that side or a faulty bulb

I fitted 4300k bulbs and Pure white LED sidelights whilst I was at it.
