My other car (cough) is a MkV VW Golf TDi GT 170 DPF, which I love, but I gather they're relatively easy to re-map to get over 200 bhp and shed loads more torque (yes, I know I'm being greedy!).

Anyone had experience of this or can make any recommendations? As always, I don't have megabucks to spend, but for less than it would cost to get an extra 10 horses out of my E30, I gather I can get 40+ on the Golf. My local garage does a "remap" that involves sending the existing map off somewhere and getting a modified one in return which they download to my car, but that costs £300 and seems a tad expensive for what they do.

Back behind an M20, but now I can hear it better.

Plus loads of smoke and dead turbos etc, just get a GTi, 200hp out the box and doesn't use farm machinery fuel.
