OH WOW!
Dan, Mk2's were not that bad for rust.
German built don't you know?

Blimey, that is clean. When I was a (very!) young lad I can remember being particularly envious of all the Granada pilots as my Dad chauffeured me about in his W plate Escort 1.3 L. He later upgraded to a C plate Escort 1.6 Ghia but the 2.8 Ghia X was where its at for the executives!

I had two Y plate 2.8i Ghia X's, one stratos silver and the other caspian blue.

My old man had a Solar gold 2.3L with the number plate DUD2V. Used to work on loads of them 25 years ago, very popular bangers run by the local farmers. The rarest was a Fjord bue 1979 GLS I Estate, complete with spotlights and TRX tyres. Another had an early 2.3 that was retrofitted with a low compression 2 litre Transit Pinto lump.
Best of all was a 1983 Ghia X 2.8i manual, a one off?

I remember seeing the odd manual 2.8i Ghia X pop up for sale when they were still about. Very rare though!
There is a champagne coloured one of these still doing the rounds in Naaarrrwich. Can't remember the last time I saw a saloon on the roads.Andyboy wrote:GLS I Estate, complete with spotlights and TRX tyres.

Yeah, When looking for my "X" I remember going to see a metallic red (Imperial red?)one in Cheam and when I walked up the drive, was surprised to see it was a manual. Turns out the guy had had it for sale for yonks and couldn't sell it!! I walked away as in them days, it was all about the resale and people wanting one of these executive chariots, demanded auto in the main.
Have to say, driving it, I also thought "this just doesn't "work"".
I always wanted either the Sapphire (78-79 Dark Blue over Silver) or the Estate Chasseur complete with bespoke luggage.

Not sure on Titus? The common 82 blue was either Caspian or the lighter Glacier (which later changed to Paris blue ). However, I did look at one just off the North Circular in about 87 that was Caribbean blue. That was a pale solid colour, more commonly found on 1.3L Mk3 Escorts!!!suchy wrote:My Dad had an 'X' plate(iirc) 2.8i Ghia X manual saloon in Titus(?)
