Keep it standard, and if you can keep it for a few years as the value is only going to go up! Lovely looking car 8)

Agreed. Standard and peado'd up that will be an appreciating asset. Don't ever think you'll retire from the proceeds but never the less, some things need leaving alone.

Whats the mileage. Been a long time since I seen one that nice. Interior trim all good?

Nothing wrong with running a different set of wheels. You can always refit the originals. I definitely would be staying away from engine swaps or body mods though.

Looks very clean, good find 8)

mileage 140k but i think thats a good thing

my experience with older cars is that if they have been around with low mileage they could have been neglected and things perish. This one has been used daily and therefore been maintained.

service history is best i have ever seen.

22 vw stamps and 20k of receipts, thats 1k every year,

Interior is v good

Nice car and rare to find in unmolested condition but this comment above is rubbish.

my experience with older cars is that if they have been sat around with low mileage they could have been neglected and things perish.

I would rather have a car that's been driven than stood still any day of the week

The only things that perish on a car that's been stored correctly are rubber.

You clearly haven't seen or used low mileage cars that have been stored an maintained correctly.

Wow seeing that interior is a blast from the past !

If you don't know what to do with it why did you buy it ? You must have had some sort of plan ? :?

With 140k on the clock personally i'd use it - if it was a low mileage jobby you'd want to preserve it but that ship has sailed :D

I used to own a 90'spec big bumper GTI in forest green back in 93
it was a great car did lots of miles in it many had over 100k in the first few years...

sadly they have never been worth anything and so fall into the wrong hands, :(

Indeed Oak Green on a MK II, Lhasa Green on a MK I, and Dragon Green on a MK III, although Dragon Green wasn't that desirable!!!

I had a lovely Lhasa Green MK I and a lovely Atlas Grey MK II 16v (plus others!), lovely nimble cars to drive. I'd be using that as a daily as it is- no mods needed!! Have often wondered about getting another to use as a daily 8)

A mate of mine has an oak green 3dr valver with about 70-80k that he might sell for the right price. He also has a similar spec/mileage one in silver to and the both dont get used as he has other cars.

Mk2 GTIs were great turds back in the day, but you only ever bought one because you couldn't afford to buy or run a BMW :)
Standard good ones are on the up value wise, as with so many older cars, when there are none left, there is only one way prices can go.

I loved them when I was in my early 20's, had a couple of MK I's & a couple of MK II's, haven't driven one for many many years but I reckon a good one will still be fun and easy to drive. Much lighter to drive than a six-pot E30... I like them still (good ones!) 8)
