Get a f* grip,we are talking about 20+yr.old sub £10k cars here,NOT the crown jewels!
That's lovely. Ford really knew how to market cars back then - the Ghia had nothing of any real value over an L or a GL, but a bit of tinsel and off you go. They were a good looking car as well, preferred them to the Mark 5.
Best would be a 2.3 manual Cortina S in something lairy like Signal Orange.

I had a Mk 5 2.0l crusader that had the 2.3 dropped in, did not last long though !!!Andyboy wrote:That's lovely. Pete don't care about colour, He would shag a rainbow if he could find the end of it....

I had a few Cortinas back in the eighties - even then it was hard to find nice ones because most had been fleet / hire cars and then minicabs. A good one that was uptogether with the solid axle bushes and decent tyres was an okay car to drive - a 2.0 could be gloriously tail happy. The ride wasn't that great but they were not the shed that many mags painted them to be.

CR24v??? Where's it all gone?? LOL

Not sure about that. An early (pre 'lifted) Mark 111 four door looks epic - An early GXL in maize yellow, four headlights, vinyl on top, Sports steels etc. A handsome Devil.
It's the Mark 1 and 2 I don't like. The Mark 1 just looks ugly and the Mark 2 was styled by a bloke who swapped his imagination for a ruler and setsquare. Dreary.

It makes me think of the car chase scene in one of the Roger Moore Bond films where he gets chased by Jaws and his hoods in a fleet of black MK4 2.3s (with Ghia alloys as I recall). Spy who loved me maybe?
My late uncle had a 1.6 Mk4 Cortina just like this one when I was kid. Fond memories

They certainly did. Colin Chapman once said that the best advertisement that he never paid for was lending an Élan to the TV company that made The Avengers. I think Ford took note of that when you think what they supplied for The Sweeney, plus they spotted their opportunity when BL lost The Professionals contract. For me, Bodie and Doyle are all about Capris and Escort RS2000s and Cowley suited his Granny. Not TR7s, Dolly Sprints or Rover SD1s!
