anyone have good or bad stories about Focus 170ST? 2002-2004 model.
been looking at them lately as a replacement to our Corsa-C .. for some strange reason they appeal to me more now than they did when new.
170 ST??

used to have one of these, loved it to bits. fantastic handling, great sounding engine & exhaust, practical, very reliable ( I had it two years, NOTHING went wrong. )
Only minus point, whilst 6th was a great motorway cruising gear, I felt that the intermediate ratios were too long, blunting the engine, I remember that 3rd was good for over 100mph.
I had it in Magnum Grey, best colour IMO, fully loaded. Only mod I felt was needed was the rear spoiler from the RS & exactly what I fitted.

Don't think you can really go wrong here? The focus has always been a great car and the warmed over versions just made them better. I remember back in 2000 having 3 x 1.8LX's on hire in a row and I was impressed with those boggo models.

had a look at what did look a tidy car in the advert, then once i went to see it the material was falling of the seat's and door panels, the carpet looked like it never had any mat's in it's life.. hole worn through the heel mat! slight rattle at 3200rpm & the speedo had a mind of it's own & had apparently only covered 62K but with no service history

Oh there certainly are some wrong'ns out there. The best thing to do is look at as many as you can before going to look at the one you "really" want as you will then have an idea of what it's condition should be like and what bits should and shouldn't be falling off at say 80,000 miles.
Good luck though fella
