Don't think I've ever seen an E30 engine bay without rust!

Wish I had a lockup that big too rather than a "garage" that's about half the size of the car I'm working on :lol:

Well i just spent the last 2 and a half hours reading this thread. Glenn i take my hat off to you. Not only having the bulls to do this, but the bulls to start it all again. Sorry to read about the 320, i bet you were abit gutted when you stoved it. Anyway keep up the good work. Look foward to seeing the M3 when its finished. You the man :bow:

Is the escort you had in your garage a mk2? If so it is sacralidge to replace it with an e30! Sorry i am an e30 owner but my heart lies with mk 2 escorts. (I thought i could see a mk2 hiding in the corner of one of your pictures)

Co-incidently that is also my favourite, the square headlighted one is fairly nasty though.

I'd love a mk2 as a project with either an xe, c20let or a cossie but trying to find one that has more metal than iron oxide is far too hard.

yes it's a droop snoot rs2000.
but it's not mine, it belongs to the guy that painted the m3.
the escort that i'd put this engine in was a mk5

i had to alter the engine mounts, as the car is now lhd, so i made fresh one's and got the engine 30mm further back and 3mm lower.....

Excelent work mate!

But it has been known that moving an engine to far back can cause balance problems (IE too much oversteer) i was reading on another forum where E36 coupe guys have fitted dry sumps to S14's and have very little restriction on the location of the engine, and all of them reported too much oversteer when the engine was pushed right up against the bulkhead. Moved back to the stock S14 settings and the balance came back.

Like someone else said, maybe the Motorsport guys really knew what they were doing.

I have now a E30 with M60B40 and S62 will be the next engine.

What are you going to do with the anty theft system in the engine?

Well if he needs more weight at the front he can always fill the gap with a couple of turbos

but i dont think i'll notice any increase in oversteer, compared to what it was like before the re-positioning.
at the track day, it was spinning the wheels up in forth at 80mph,
without using the clutch, just purely off the throttle.

I don't think having the weight too far back will be a problem here as all Glenn is doing is compensating for an engine that's much larger than an S14.

Yeah, a s38 in a touring has the same effect when the revs hit 5200
