I found a guy on Facebook marketplace selling a 2.0L m10 that he claims is from a 1979 car of some kind
Would this be worth swapping my 1.8L m10 for? The only mods to it are a e21 320 intake manifold and a Weber 32/36 carb.
Only thing is that the motor I'd be buying has been sitting in a storage unit since the 80s so it would need to be gone over, but the components on the 2.0 are much better right?
Main theme is that the 2.0L has unknown miles and unknown wear and has been sitting, the motor in the car is the original with 90k km and looks very nice under the valve cover.
Just looking to see what you guys think

In standard form its about 7hp and 10lbft difference, not much of a reward for the effort involved

If I did modify the 2.0L though would that be worth the effort? I could dress it up fully then swap it

If you want a moddified M10 then its probably the best place to start, S14 bits were the way to go about 25 years ago but its an expensive game nowadays

I think I'll leave it as is, it would be a poor dollar & hours per horsepower gained

BMW turbo'd it twice, once for the 2002 and then in the M12
Supercharging has been done but seems a pain in the rear to get the compression right and fuel going in. Blowing through or sucking from carbs is an expensive nightmare. Standalone injection is not that much easier.
Most advice seems to be leave alone or swap in something ready made

Maybe I'll do something crazy in the future and do a B48 swap or something, I think that would be a good fit and it would modernize the drivetrain
