I have an m10b18 carb engine, about to change to a weber 32/34 dmtl, and i am thinking about changing the cam to a Schrick 284° grind. What about it, in terms of reliability and what further enhancements are needed to support it and run smoothly (such as brakes, suspension, rocker arms and others??)
Simple explanations would be greatly appreciated since i am a bit green about this cam change idea.

dont!
the 1800 m10's with there smaller capacity and short stroke dont like lumpy cams, it woudl be better on a pair of 40's but even then you wil have the small port head which really strangles airflow without truely extensive head work.
i hate to say it but you really are better swapping to a bigger engine
