Doing an auto to manual swap on a 316.

Do all cars have a pilot bearing in the flywheel or is it only dual massed ones? Real OEM only seems to show a dual mass flywheel.

Anyone know anything?

the E30 does have a spigot bearing there's 2 different ones if I remember correctly it depends on what gearbox your using as the end of the shaft on some is a larger diameter part numbers are..

11211709681 for the smaller diameter

11211720310 for the larger diameter

if you order one try it on the end of the gearbox shaft before fitting into the end of the crankshaft

Cheers for that, but they're for M40 engines.

Surely they all have different flywheels and configurations etc?

should have explained the M40 has 2 different spigot bearings
I'm sure the thinner ones are on early cars where as the thicker diameter one is on later cars.
discovered this during an engine change on a 316i touring when I was fitting an early engine and the shaft wouldn't go into the spigot bearing
hence why I said depending on your gearbox depends on what spigot bearing you will need

Theres a few last bits to this conversion which are being a real pita due to having no donor.

Right, I think I've tracked it down to this for my car. It's LUK part number 410 0090 10. ECP sell it as well :)

This is the real oem diagram for my car:

I understand that pilot bearing is #1, but what are #2,3 and 4 and do I need them?
