So I finally got myself E30 and I want to built DAILY E30 with V8 and I cant decide wether I should go with stock M60B40 or M62B44 with ECUmaster and disconnected "unnecessary" stuff to prevent the notorious electronic issues. Any advice?
For what it's worth, I am a few jobs away from completion on my v8 swap and for me I chose the m60 4.0
Numerous reasons for this;
The wiring is a bit easier on the m60,
The crank sensor on the m60 takes its readings from the front pulley unike the m62 which gets it from the flywheel, so choosing flywheel-clutch-gearbox is less headache,
And also the m60 has dual row timing chains, and from everything I've seen is the stronger engine in this department which is where the single row m62's fail.
Ontop of this, the m60 4.0 puts out the same power, and is only 15ftlbs short of the m62 which nobody wpuld notice on the road to be fair.
For me the better choice was the m60 which I have mated to a 6 speed e34 540 gearbox, lightweight flywheel and e60 530d clutch setup
