Hi Guys,
I'm almost finished collecting pieces for this conversion (finally!) i was just wondering what you have all done with regards to an Exhaust. i know the manifolds are a pain, but what have you used from there back? 325 center and back box or something else? What sort of size tubes?

Also what suspension are you all running? I'm thinking i will use Eibach springs from a 325 (car is originally a 318). Will that be enough to keep the front end off the ground?

Cheers Chris.

Hi Chris

What did you do for the manifolds?
Id recommend an exhaust shop making a system, and not using a 325 system

I haven't sorted the manifolds themselves but thinking about using the Ergen ones. Not sure what to do about the exhaust from there back, I don't want it too loud as its a convertible and I want to be able to cruise in it comfortably with the roof down, but it would be nice to hear the engine when you boot it. Ergen offer a complete exhaust but it's another £900. What would you suggest? Just a regular exhaust company such as powerflow etc? 3 silencers? X pipe etc?
Cheers Chris.

Hi, my trousers are way too short for this but a friend of mine has a company that does engine conversions and exhausts and all sorts of creations for a living and he quoted for a complete system from manifolds all the way back with 2 new cats and 2 silencers, tubular stainless all the way through - £3600. It's no good to me but just in case, there it is. PM me if you want his number.

Chris, the ergen manifolds are great, and you will see power gains from them too.
If you want to tailor the noise of the exhaust then somewhere like powerflow etc is your best bet.
X pipe you will need

Depending on where you are, 83 Engineering I can highly recommend

Thanks Phil, I'm just about to order the Ergen manifolds, I like the look of their full exhaust (saw an S54 one earlier ion the week (with the volume adjuster on it too!) but cant justify the £900 price tag at the moment. The manifolds are roughly 42-45mm going to 54mm at the collectors, do you think it would cause massive issues mounting that to a twin 45mm exhaust system? I'm thinking that there will only be one cylinder firing at a time, so should be ok, although not ideal?

I'll check out 83 engineering, are you running a custom exhaust from the manifolds back?

Cheers Chris.

Hi, are they 42-45mm inside or outside diameter? Thanks

Outside I believe. Hopefully it'll work as I'm ordering the manifolds today and the exhaust I've already bought. It was at a decent price so if it doesn't work I'll sort something else.

Cheers Chris.
