Hi to all, I have just purchased an E39 4.4 v8, a 1998 car,It is complete car minus automatic gearbox, radiator and air flow meter,
My problem is i have bought the car just for the engine, I have not heard it run yet(to be honest a bit of a impulse buy),I have been assured that the engine is ok,
What i would like to know is what is the best way to get it started?,I just need to hear the engine running,
As i have stated the car is complete minus the above parts and have the keys also,
Any advice welcome,
Thanks Mo
how to get a car started?

Stick a battery in it and try it.

How are you going to hold the starter if there Is no gearbox in it?

You'll have to get a flywheel and gearbox of some description bolted up to it, and fit a starter motor matched to that flywheel. It won't rev properly without a MAF, but should idle OK.

you'll need a gearbox bolted to it.....to have somewhere to bolt the crank position sensor
