Hi all,

I have started work on my conversion. I have an E34 540 as my donor car with a 6 speed. I have got my engine mounts and spacers from 300mm.de. Superb to deal with by the way highly recommended. However I now am not sure wether to convert the E30 to 5 stud or stick with 4x100? Every E30 V8 I have seen has 5 stud so this seems the way to go. I would have also like to use the calipers etc off the E34, seems logical and cost cutting at the same time. Just wondered what others have done? I need to keep costs as low as possible. Any advice is much appreciated.

Prepare for alot of peoples opinions.

5 Stud swap is easy for bigger better brakes and also more varied suspension choices and second hand range for people on a budget

Full e36 m3 evo front end, wishbones, hubs, calipers etc with e36 coilovers will bolt on.

You will need to redrill the top mount with 1 new hole to allow for the e36 top mount to fit. Castor/camber adjustable top mounts will help

Using the M3 Evo gives you 315mm brakes and plenty of braking power for road driving. I have used this set up for 2.5 years on road and also competition drifting and trackdays. Its perfectly capable and i drive like a dick.

You can go even better and use uprated pads too.

That is the route i would go rather then dicking about with calipers from a e34, if you search you can find a m3 evo breaking and fit the whole set up in one go in a couple of hours.

Whilst your at it, its worth swapping the rack to a e36/e46/z3 too as you will have everything apart.

Alot of people will say use E30 M3 parts only, you dont have too and its fucking expensive

My m3 evo front set up, although a while ago was something in the region of £150

I used a 5 stud conversion om my E30 V8 definitely the way to go. We didnt use the subframe spacers on mine as we made the mounts. Good luck mate.
