I have have two ECU's for my M60 conversion:
261 200 404 - (fairly sure this came out of my 530)
261 203 484 - (fairly sure this came out of the 740)
I will be running the B40 lump but I am not certain how to determine whether the '404 (Non-EWS) is from the B30 or B40. From a quick search online it would seem that the part numbers are the same for both B30 & B40 for a '404 style ECU.
Can anyone advise how to check this short of just seeing if it is short of fuel when running? Also alternatively if this is just a chip can I swap it over from the '484 to the '404 to avoid EWS and ensure correct fueling?
Cheers,
Adam

Cheers Will, Afraid that I don't have the EWS bits... I can't see any difference either but guessing they must have a different map, I notice that both engines (3&4L) run the same injectors so guessing it can't be the same map with a heavier flow rate...
Duly noted... I do find it odd that they run the same part number though... I think I'll check in with someone from BMW on this one...
But agree that I certainly don't want to be scrimping on £100 for all that extra power/risk of ruining the lump!!

I run the 4l afm and done over 40 drift events with the 3l ecu and i mean bashing the limiter flat out 3rd/4th its never missed a beat, i can confirm it works driving hard lol and it mae 298bhp on rollers without a chip
