Hi all,
I bought an m62tu at the weekend with a 6 speed box. Insight of checking with the owner and Bmw, who both said it was a non Vanos engine, it turned out it was! I bought it an way as I'd driven 200 miles for it, and it was a good price (cheaper than just the gearbox alone!). The engines only done 92k and has history but needs the chain tensioners replacing.

So I'm really asking what my options are? It's a Vanos engine, and so a can us one too! I've got the ecu ews and chips etc. is it worth trying to source some m60 heads and a bottom end and make an m60b44? Can I use the existing ecu or do I need another? Will I need anything else? Or shall I just stick the engine on egay and source an m60?

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers Chris.

Jim I've got the ews remote antennae and chips etc, so that bits fine. More of an issue is the fact that its the can bus and Vanos engine and runs fly by wire throttle. So I'm thinking to turn it in to a 4.4litre m60.

What do I need? Is it just the heads, bottom end ecu and throttle body? Am I right in thinking everything else should just bolt up? I guess I'll need the ews chips and unit from the m60 too?

Cheers Chris.

My mate has one of these running in a e30, It was a bit of a ball ache to get running but it is worth it. It would be worth speaking to Turk as he got the engine wired up and started for us.

Sure you can get stand allown Ecu's that can control vanos now and that would get around the fly by wire throttle and the missing with the ews
