Ok, so a change of direction with my car. I got it on the road finally and have decided that an M42 is just not going to cut the mustard, so I bought a 92 540i auto and a manual 5 speed box.

Now here come the questions (the first of many no doubt);

I am planning on using the 300mm.de mounts, how is the engine positioning with these mounts?

Is it really necessary to use subframe spacers, or can I get away without them?

I have seen someone (maybe on here) who mounted the brake booster where the battery tray is, right above the brake pedal. I like this option more than any of the others, but why is it not more popular?

300mm.de mounts, engine postion is err in.... They have 2 settings and both work. sorry cant be more help then that

Subframe spacers arent hugely necessary, but they do give you a little more cleance with the steering rack and also some of the anchillerys wont be jammed close to the chassis rail.

You sure the brake booster wasnt on the 'Gama Motorsport' car, as they had a pedalbox instead of a servo as such. Basically on a track car its great, but on the road its shite,

I did loads of research into it, but i think that the best idea is using the servo setup that is assisted from the p/s. I think most 540 used it, if the car is a road only motor

How much is the angle of the engine affected? My concern is about keeping everything in-line with regard to the prop guibo.

I just had a look at the Gama, it wasn't that car. I have just been reading through Glenn's S62 thread, and he has moved the booster and master cylinder to the drivers side in the battery tray area -

Also willnz has moved the brake setup to the battery tray, but it looks like He is using hydro -

It appeals to me as a good solution because it means cutting down on the number of rods and linkages rather than adding more.

Why don't you think the hydro system would be suitable for the track?

I like Will's and Glenns method most too really. Not really a fan of all the linkages even thought they probably work perfectly fine.

Think for 7K, Gama should have put alittle more thought into it rather than just sticking pedal box into the car :p
