I think this my make life a lot easier
i was going to go down the same route with mine . its a pain in the arse aint it...i decided to give gama motorport a call. they do pair of stainless manifolds (4-2-1 equal length) for 800 quid and a full custom system to match for an extra 500 ...... im going down that route that way its done once and done right

I was thinking of going the same route, but thought I would give this ago first, actually its the first thing I have ever welded! Im sure they are far from perfect but they will do until funds allow a better option, the budget has kind of been spent on k sport brakes and gaz golds, id love to see some pics of yours when done

Yes it bolts on to the engine but you need to use B30 flywheel and clutch as the B40 has bigger clutch shaft and 25mm larger diameter clutch disc.

Hi jonsku, just been reading the article in Pbmw, your car looks great! and thanks to you I have decided to step my build up a notch, original plan... chuck it together and go racing, now we have decided to remove the engine and tidy up the engine bay as I have not been happy with the way it was looking and my dad being a panel beater and sprayer it seemed silly not to do this while we were at this stage
There were some small bubbles of rust on the battery tray area and around the fuse box, a good clean up revealed that there was a lot more rust than we first thought, but nothing some careful plating and welding wont put right, thought that maybe we should find another shell but have become quite attached to this one as it has been a track toy for a couple of years.
I have a question regarding the engine mounts you have used, are they e34 or e39 540i mounts? we had been trying to fit the m62 without lowering the subframe but have been struggling trying to find a suitable engine mount to give us the clearance we need, I have now ordered a set of subframe mounts as this seems a better option, but the diagrams of the e39 mounts look like they will not fit the 300mm.de mounts that I am using?

Thanks!

I'm using E34 540 mounts + 4mm spacer plates with 300mm.de "engine arms" and subframe spacers. Aren't the E39 / E38 mounts about the same as in E32 / E34, maybe a bit higher?
However, i wouldn't recommend using subframe spacers if you are going to race the car as the suspension travel / tie rod angles will get pretty much fucked up :D You can fit the engine without lowering the subframe, though the gearbox tunnel needs to be modified in order to get the whole package horizontal.

Are there any differences in the wiring for the M60 and M62 engines?
I can only find wiring diagrams for the M62 and none V8 E34's

TIA
