Ok, so a silly question and I may never get to do it, (at least not for some time), but what sort of cost is involved indoing a V8 conversion on a cabby???

Obv, excluding the donor car - i would just buy a runner if poss, so I new all was well - and it would be an auto, for cruising!!!

I won't be doing the work myself, so would need to find someone to do it for me, which is why I want to know about costs before I even start considering it!!!!

So, how long should/could a conversion like this take???
What sort of budget should one have to hand, for this to be a 'turnkey' conversion???
(i.e. drop off a solid cabby and drive out with a reliable, well done V8 conversion under the bonnet!!!)

All input appreciated, as I'm not even going to consider this unless/until I know I can afford to have it finished properly!!!

Welll... it all depends on what else is being done at the same time. Brakes should be updated, all the running gear on the engine renewed etc.. Labour is not cheap (at least cheap labour will be more costly in long run).

I'd say it's anything from 10 000€ upwards, depending on the scope.

Speak to Rob @ rawmotorsport

02380 454163, quite a few of these under his belt now.

It all depends on sourcing of parts too, costs can be cut in various ways.
I cant help but think an auto is a slight let down...but thats only me.
It is a great reliable conversion.

I've spent well over 10k on my S62 conversion including suspension, wheels, tyres, brakes, custom exhaust etc etc, and that's doing just about everything myself. All the small bits add up too. I'd hate to think of the labour costs if I was charging it out!

Cheers guys!!

I know what you mean about an auto being a let down - I would've always agreed in the past, but this is just gonna be a daily cruiser, easy to drive, with a bit of poke!!!
I'll always have a manual for fun days and occasional track use, but I'm obviously getting old before my time and enjoy the auto too much on the road!!!

Is that rawmotorsport the one near/in mitcham? The breakers?

Dave - I know what you mean about it all adding up - I must have spent well over that on my touring and still got bits to do, (as always!).
Just want this to be relatively simple/basic - as much as an engine conversion can be!!!
