Anyone with a v8 conversion have any good ideas of releasing heat from under the bonnet without using louvres?
I took a 5 hour round trip from east to west and back again on Sunday. I had things to do further afield so used the opportunity to get my first long distance run in the newly swapped motor.
My engine temp during the hotter part of the day rose on the odd occasion to just below the 3/4 mark. I heard that the outside temp reached 27 and I did have to open the vents inside the car and let hot air in which wasn't much fun. By evening this wasn't necessary as the outside air temp was several degrees cooler. When I parked up home my mate came over to the passenger door and I heard a 'Woah, feel the heat' before he opened the door!!!
I've been reading a lot on the web about this and have found some good things on the subject. Under trays promoting air being sucked in to the fan due to lowering the pressure further on the engine side of the engine bay amongst them.
I would like to avoid louvres and keep the look stock if possible but if I really had to go the louvre way I have had a few good bonnet design ideas.
