I just replaced the deformed rubber engine mounts with the AKG to cure the problem with the ARB touching the header. Now the ARB is 3mm away from the header. However, now I get cabin drone instead. It happens in 1st gear during take-off and also sometimes in 2nd right after shifting from 1st. I can avoid the drone by taking off at slightly higher rpm but it's a PITA as this is my daily driver. I didn't get this with the previous engine mounts (some aftermarket E28 M5 from ebay.) Is this normal with the AKG mounts or do I have problems? If it's not the engine mounts then where else should I look?

Iv had clearance problems with these mounts, on mine the sump was just touching the steering rack which I have had to make a spacer for the right hand mount. Worth checking if you have vibrations

I would look closer at how the exhaust is mounted, the S50 is heavy so you shouldnt be feeling anything through the mounts, I never have with S50's
I have these on my track car now (alloy M52) and they are fine, its loud anyway so I wouldnt notice any extra noise TBH.
What rack are you using toadster? Never had sump/rack issues with any ive fitted

AKG mounts seem noisy on mine and took some messing to get the engine sitting right. Even now there is no space to fit the heater top hose on to the standard stub.

The exhaust doesn't touch the ARB right now after the AKG mounts although the gap is very small. Now I don't feel vibration from the exhaust anymore so it's all good in that regard. It's just the shifting in 1st that car shakes very loudly if I let go the clutch pedal too soon. Not sure if this is a result from the light weight flywheel that I installed previously (before the AKG mounts.) I didn't have any shaking with the previous mounts though so I didn't think it's because of the flywheel.

I have a Z3 rack in mine, which I have now removed some of the raised lump which the Z3 rack has and a 6mm packer plate under the mount, not ideal but tried everything else, I did a thread when I first had this problem think we might have already discussed thisDanThe wrote: I have these on my track car now (alloy M52) and they are fine, its loud anyway so I wouldnt notice any extra noise TBH.
