I currently have a 325i sport and love it to bits but its just nit fast enough.

I have been reading up and most of the technical stuff I dont get, but I do have a friend who is good at mechanics and stuff. He has done few conversions and we have been thinking of putting a 3.0 ltr e36 m3 engine in to an e30.

So the plan is that I sell my sport, sell a few other bits and raise money to do the m3 conversion.

What I need to know firstly is what kind of e30 is best for this conversion.

I defo wont be using my sport for it as I dont think its right ruining a perfectly good sport. So i want to get something else instead that i can use.

There will be hundreds of question about the conversion but these will be asked by the guy actually doing the conversion.

Thank you

Any e30 will do really as long as it is solid! You will need to renew or upgrade most of the suspension and brakes anyway. I started with a 318iS thinking the rear discs ect, would save me some time but it all came off for a refurb anyway. I know of a 316A that ended up as a s50'd e30. If I was to start again i think i would go for a chromie to try and save some weight! Try finding a rot free early car though

Alreet

If you want to have a look at one i'd be happy to let you have a look round mine. As long as its a solid shell i don't think it really matters which one you go for. I used a tech 1 sport.

I really don't understand this mentality. Fitting an S50 in no way 'ruins' a sport - if done properly.

Ian.
If it aint broke - Modify it...

I understand what you saying , but I'm thinking I got perfectly good sport it's one previous owner decent nic so I should get decent money for it. With the money I get for this it will or should cover most of cost o conversion. Let someone take the sport who wants it standard an clean an I will adopt a 316 an feed it steroids

If it's not fast enough just make it faster. Swapping in an S50 is one of many ways.
