Let us know how you get on, I have just cut up my original manifold to try and mod it to fit but have been looking at the fritz pipe but couldnt get no feed back from other people who have brought this pipe.

Am I right in saying thats the Dave/predator system? If so Dave keeps trying to sell me one of these everytime I go and see him 8)

Ive had a good look round these and the quality looks great. Ive only heard one on an M50, but it really did sound good. It wasnt overly loud on idle or part throttle (Dave wanted to keep it subtle) but it had a nice bark once the taps were opened

ya didnt hang around with fitting that now fella! 8)
Glad to here its not to noisy so atleast you wont be turned away at track days for going over the 108db ristiction most tracks have.

Have you got any pics of the manifold position in relation to the uj? I am thinking of buying one of these systems wanna make sure under hard cornering the manifold isnt going to fowl the uj.

Nice tubes 8)

If you dont want contact with the steering joint on hard left handers (using rubber engine mounts) you need to have around 20mm clearance between the tubes and linkage

There is 10mm minimum here and hits the linkage on hard lefts, this is an ally engine BTW so much lighter than an S50

I notice you have done away with the rubber bush/coupling how has this afected your steering?
I was going to do the same but was advised against this and told the steering would be notchy.
I dint use the combo of e36 and e30 on my car to fit the z3 rack, I shortend, sleved and tig welded the original colum.
Losing the coupling would give me much needed clearance to get the manifold in the right place, witch is driving me mad as my field is bodywork not mechanics!

is there any kind of polly engine mounts available?? think i have about 10mm.i have also use the same splined shaft as in the pic above to do away with the rubber coupling.

http://www.akgmotorsport.com/catalog/ca ... M50%20Swap

bottom of the page you will find the s50 polymounts that a number of people completing this conversion swear by,

Should greatly reduce/eradicate coupling/shaft to manifold contact in hard cornering

Yeah the $200 mounts, the only other option IMO is to mod the crossmember to take straight mounts and use some poly, the AKG ones are angled so the engine arms sit on straight

Dan is that a s50 or a m50/52 in your car? The manifold in the pic looks like a m50/52 these manifols fit the s50 quite neatly but look very restrictive so i have decided not to use em on my car.

These are massively smaller than the S50 manifold's bore!

Do these manifolds fit an m50 in a e30 shell with no modifications?

Interesting, how much do they go for typically and would you be interested in selling your one now you aren't using it?

it comes with all the mountings and straps. you'll just need to specify if you are running a 5 or 6 speed box.

Its still alot cheaper than the btb equivalent which is something like £2k+ for the manifold alone.

I am going to to find an aftermarket E30 M3 Exhaust (used if poss), and modify the S50 manifolds (already doing this). Not an easy or fast option but hey - a whole lot cheaper and will work a treat...

Obviously I would like something "pre made" like this, but would rather blow £700 on other parts of the car to be honest. For example, maybe put it towards some high end coilovers...

2k plus is just nuts !!!!!! jeeez.

But... - I have seen those btb's and yes, they are things of beauty indeed winkeye

It sounds like you have a good plan for an exhaust system anyway tbh and it will be capable on an m52. You are going to the rolling road day next week aren't you? Randomdave should be there in his s50'd m3 and im pretty sure its now wearing that exhaust if you did wanted to take a peek (make sure you bring extra underwear - it sounds fookin luvly!)

If you are fitting an S50, the exhaust will be too small.. If you are fitting an M52 the S50 manifold is too big..

The manifold on an S50 is important to make power.. And hence get the best of the conversion..

It's 1.5k for the BTB. 3k with the rest of the system.

700 wont even get you a set of Gaz Golds, and they aren't even 'high end'

I am just searching for, and going over S50 E30 exhaust options again and never saw this reply the first time.

Yes I know that £700 wont even get you a set of Gaz Golds Jhonno, - hence the words "put it towards" some suspension were used !.

But anyway, that aside - I think a custom twin pipe/twin box stainless system will be the way I am heading now. But first I have to modify the S50 manifold's before we get to that.

Is the standard E36 S50 exhaust bore 2 x 60.32mm ? If so I will have this replicated, but in stainless of course.

I saw an S50b32 E36 track car on M3cutters (running iirc 340hp) and a single pipe system, which I thought odd !?
