what happens if oil filter shatters to pieces in a e30s50b30
Moderator: martauto
You are not the first to be burnt by this type of conversion mate, and you wont be the last!! I would want it out of there ASAP! But i would not want to give them anymore money, If that engine is still good, There is probably £3k more to be spent to make it right.

So your exhaust manifolds have gone walkies, along with your radiator and the engine might be fried even though you gave them a working, tested engine. THIS SUCKS!!e30s50b30 wrote:the car was my m3 that i decided to use for the conversion and it drove down as a complete m3 now its frankenstein !

so there admitting not changing the filter... even though they changed the oil? I would be looking at engine numbers and make sure this is your engine..e30s50b30 wrote:they say it broke ( filter) coz it was cheap or old !

so they have no leg to stand on, the engine was fine before the garage got there hands on it.
Can't see how they can get out of that one.
You have paid for a service (fitting the engine into an E30) that they have failed to do.
The onus is on them.
explain to them about the advice from here. I wouldn't except anything less than a full refund.

This is what your manifolds should look like.

My point being that as a few guys have pointed out it would be difficult to pin much on the garage, however the missing radiator and manifold is pure THEFT and therefore creates an angle to involve police in a much simpler scenario.

@Jim not pure theft. Theft, fraud AND deception, more to this than meets the eye.
Police involvment is NEVER a simple scenraio.
Is this a legal or lawful issue?
do you understand who even owns a car? Look at your docs for your car You are NOT the owner.
you/we are just the REGISTERED KEEPERS
do not take my word or that of ANYONE else. do your homework.
I'll start you with regius ex or as the state calls it registration.

Thats some cowboy action right there!!!
They have either seen you as a mug and just wanted the cash out if you,
Or
Just haven't got a clue how to work on any sort if car.
I would tell them straight........ The engine was in full working order when it was delivered, so it should be returned in the same condition, regardless of what vehicle it goes into.
So you either want it fixed or the money and the car returned PRONTO.

I wouldn't trust a word they say bud. Get up there and do what Craigieeb has said. Take someone who knows there way around cars/engines with you to help confirm that is the engine you gave them.e30s50b30 wrote:apparently engine looks ok so far but thats what i been told
Alas I'm too far from you to assist and I'm having issues along the same as you so no road worthy car at the moment.
