i was driving, its started to hesitate, but when i put it in neutral and gave it some revs it would clear up, but hessitae in gear again. after a few more miles it just died...
im getting fuel and spark, ews is working, all relays are ok. so started to check crank sensor, was really mucky and housing was cracked, wire loose. so i replaced it and it still wont start.
ive tried to run a diagnostic with my carsoft 6.5, just come back module dosnt respond for everything...

any one have similar problems, know a cure?

i have no idea, i checked spark, by grounding the plugs and turning it over, they sparked. the spark plugs smell of fuel. i pulled the fuel pipe going to rail it was letting fuel out when i turned the key.
kinda confused

i managed to get my carsoft working and its pulling code 162, which after a quick search brings up camshaft syncronization, any idea what it could be? camshaft sensors? or could vanos solenoid cause this?

Calm down, give it some time.

Weak spark could be coils. Could try borrowing a set of coils and see if it cures it?

Well what can it be? Its either the plug or the coilpack, nothing much to diagnose!

What kind of BMW is it? Year and model? Cam synchronisation fault occurs when the timing is out? Carry out a compression check? Full throttle with the fuel pump fuse pulled out... Crank for 10secs... Also sounds maybe lik it could be flooded if when ya cleared da faults and they didn't return... Hope it helps

e30 m3 with s50b32. compression is good (180s across all 6). i left spark plugs out overnight to let the fuel disperse, still no joy. do you think it might have something to do with the walbro i installed?(walbro 255 in tank removed external and replaced with fuel hose) maybe over fueling?
yea i was considering the timing after i pulled the code, but it was driving fine and just started to hesitate and died. would the ecu let it spark with timing off? i will check timing tomorow to be sure. maybe somthing to do with vanos?
im thinking it might have somthing to do with the spark not being as strong as it should be, ive ordered a new coil pack to check, but i doubt it as all 6 cant just die at once, can they?

If it has fuel at the rail it might not be enough pressure? Spark isn't your issue they are either workin or not, pull the rocker cover just feel the chain if ya can pull it up off the guide or gear pulley its bad if not I wouldn't go to too much further down the timin route not yet anyway... So is it cranking away but won't fire? Is it even attempting to go? Without sounding nosey is there any other changes or is it mostly standard s50 in an m3... Double check fuses and relays, did you bring over the key and pickup ring for ews... It's prob somethin small you'll get it! Is there petrol in it!!!! :D

i took a break from thecar because i was getting temped to torch the bitch..

i checked timing today (piston 1 at tdc and cam notches lined up)
it cranks but just wont, dosnt even attempt to start.
going to double check fuses and relays tomorow. ews works because im getting fuel and spark, i can also hear relay click when i put the chip near the ring. stock s50b32 in m3.

all this happened 40 miles after new walbro pump, so im gonna check the pressure tommorow

i have timing, compression, spark, fuel and ews is working wtf can it be?

Try spraying some carb or brake cleaner down the inlet(s).

I have this problem with my Fiat twin-cam sometimes, and this usually gets the temperamental b*tch to start!

If there is nothing coming back it says to me the pump isnt building enough pressure

i see your point, i need to buy a pressure tester. i have a new walbro 255 in tank, i was under the presumption it would be more than adequate. do you know of a way to test the pressure without buying a tester?

I often use a variation of this: I feed propane from a large gas blowlamp (jet removed) directly into the large hose to the throttle body, with the petrol system disabled.
If the timing/sparks are OK, you should be able to get the engine to start and idle on propane, proving that the petrol system is the problem.

I was replying to your other thread and forgot to mention that I also have the intank Walbro but it's not working well for me. That's why I was looking for the M3 fuel pump. I tried removing the external pump and the car seemed to lose a lot of power and became very difficult to start. Replaced the external pump and everything was fine again.

i disconnected the fuel pump and sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake plenum, the car started very rough but it was running for a few. so its definatly the fuel.
i replaced the regulator and.. it still wouldnt return fuel..
i think dan is right it is a low pressure problem

i think its the walbro giving me the problems as well, im going to use the external as well and see what happens.
buts its strange i had it running on the walbro only and it drove better than it did with the walbro and external combo, maybe the externals on its way

connectied inline pump and she fired up straight away, the walbro is not enough on its own, maybe do as a replacment for intank but will definatly need a inline.
there is a big pressure difference between the walbro and inline, my return pipe has started to allow fuel back now.
sorted for now, but now i need to decide on which inline pump i should use. is it bosch 044 time?

Ok, you confirmed the Walbro problem that I had. As stated before I'm thinking about the M3's internal pump which should be able to supply enough juice by itself. So then I won't need the external pump anymore.
