Water operating temp

Where should the water temp needle in the E30 cluster point at operating temp for the S50B30 motor? I'm using the brown temp sender. Sometimes mine points at the 1/4 mark but sometimes at 1/2. So which is it?

Sounds about right for an 80° thermostat
