I am thinking of using a e36 H&R anti roll bar on my e30 with the link arms mounting on the shocks with the roll bar in the forward position.
I have a 5 stud conversion on my car using m3 evo hub's, arms and coilovers to fit a m3 evo so the mountings are allready on the shocks to fit the ajustable link arms. The distance between the mounting points would apear to be the same at a glance( had my mates m3 up on the ramp next to mine for a quick look) but was wondering If anyone had fitted a e36 anti roll bar and how did you get on?
I was thinking of using 28mm bar but my mate said it may cause understeer! would this be true or another tall story?
Any info will be apreciated :D

Cheers

I didnt think the E36 ARB will fit an E30 because the E36 ARB runs round the front of the engine, where the sump is on the E30.

Correct, and a 28mm bar is way too stiff for an E30.

You can use E36 arb's but it requires fabrication on your E30 chassis, and then isn't ideal as the shape drops very low at the front. I can't really see the point myself, there are various thickness bars available for the std E30 position, and when tied to the struts a la M3/E36 M3 they perform perfectly well. If it's to leave you more clearance for exhaust manifolds then my personal feeling is that the manifolds should be modified properly.

Also, due to the differences in the shape (bending moments) of the bars, comparing E36 and E30 ARB's by diameter doesn't really work.

I find that an E30 325i 20mm arb tied to my M3 evo front struts is a tiny bit too much when used with the 14.5mm rear arb (again, E30 325i). Ideally I want to get myself a thicker rear bar, or a new set that are thicker all round and adjustable to dial out the understeer and suit the car a little better.

Regards,

Jai

If you try to mount an E36 ARB im sure the E34 sump will stop you as on an E36 the bar is shaped to miss the lower front part of the E36 sump.
You would also understeer straight through the nearest hedge if you did get it to fit :)

Cheers for the info guys looks like a e30 arb it is then :) I will have to move the manifold a bit more to fit but that is no prob, its all a bit of a learning curve for me so all you guys help is well apreciated.
Also any recomendations for diameter and make? Was thinking of going with eibach kit
