Evening all,

Just wondering if someone can help me. I’m after a full replacement set of OEM hydraulic lifters for my M42 engine - finally got the car running and the diesel noise was absolutely terrible.

Having had a nose around it seems this is a pretty common issue on M42 engines and worn lifters are the culprit.

Does anyone know where I could get an OEM set of 16 from?

As an aside, I’m looking at a Kent Cams fast road camshaft (might as well take advantage as everything has to come out) but it seems pretty mild. Any other good cams to look out for?

Cheers,

Ted

It is possible to rebuild the lifters, how bad are yours? Regarding the cams, have a chat with BDS Performance. Bruno builds my engines and is very very knowledgable.

What grade of engine oil are you using? I had one noisy lifter and within minutes of an oil change with 10/40 it was cured.

Liqui moly 10w40 MOS2. Best oil for M40/M42. :)
