Can anyone help me. Doing m40 to m42 swap and forgot about the wiring mods to the loom and now I'm proper confused! Which wires needed to be cut and which needed to be swapped?

Should be plug and play afaik - Assuming the M42 loom is from an E30 no wires should need cutting or swapping.
Only thing to check is Pin20 of the C101 for an earth connection on the car side - if there's a brown wire there, cut it out.

Realised about the live to earth problem the hard way.
now my rev counter is not working! Flaming eejit, very annoyed with myself. Impossible to determine the extent of the damage to the wiring :@
