My car is running choppy at low speeds in gear 1 and 2. The engine's idle is sometimes wobbly aswell.

I found a crack on the vacuum hose going from the valve cover to somewhere under the intake manifold. The crack is located on the hosing below the intake manifold.

I guess I'm forced to remove the intake manifold in order to replace the hosing.

My questions are now:

Should I check something else during the time I have the intake manifold removed?

Do I only have to replace the vacuum hosing, or is there anything else I have to replace, for example the hosing clamps?

What size is the vacuum hosing?

A general nose around to make sure nothing else is looking like its about to pop its clogs won't hurt while the manifold is off but there shouldn't be anything really. I would consider having the injectors flow tested and ultra sonically cleaned if you have some spare cash and can have the car off the road for a couple of days. If they're gummed up it will do wonders do your MPG and overall performance. Check out www.injectortune.co.uk (also a trader on here).

So long as no one else has had it off, murdered the jubilee clips up and chewed up the teeth on them, they they are fine to reuse.

You should be able to order a new vacuum hose from BMW. You can browse all parts here http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E30/2 ... 42/browse/

The problem is that I don't really know how it looks under the manifold. It feels like the hosing is split with another hosing.

This is the hosing I'm talking about, but I can't find the rest of it:

1. Not every one checks every thread every 5 minutes to respond to you instantly.

2. Reading back I'm pretty sure I answered your questions.

3. If yore unsure what's under there take the manifold off and have a look it will take you no time at all then you will know what you need.

The thing is that I want to order the parts I need with the manifold mounted, because I have to use my car in order to get the parts I need.

Otherwise I have to remove the manifold to check what parts I need ----> Put the manifold back on my car and drive to the store in order to buy the parts ----> Unscrew the manifold again and replace the parts.

And removing the manifold doesn't seem like something you do for fun...
