Took my car for its mot and it failed on high hydrocarbons on the emissions test. Think the limit was 1200 and mine was read 2400. It definately runs rich as you can smell the fuel from the exhaust and what comes out is quite wet. Checked the blue plug at the plug end and ecu end but it seams fine. I think it's been running rich since I put the engine in. Has had new plugs and a cop conversion recently. It's a bit lumpy on idle, but not sure if that's to do with the lightened fly wheel or e28 engine mounts. Now I'm a bit stuck on what to check to stop it running rich. Any help is always appreciated

Did the engine run normally before you put it in?
