Hi All
I am about to replace the original 1990 M42 timing case with an e36 1993 version, the one that eliminates the idler sprocket.
The gasket to seal the case to the block is metal.
Any tips to install correctly, or same procedure as with the fibre gasket.
TIA

Just to let you all know.
The later style e36 M42 timing case works fine in an e30 with the metal gasket.
engine started first time, all good.
Just gotta bleed the coolant grrrrrrr

Hi mark, iv just brought myself a 318 with a M42 in there, and was just wondering what the gains were of this mod and is it a straight swap without anything else needed?
thanks
