m40 auto to m42 manual help

hi iv got a m40 auto and im intrested in puting in a m42 manual just a quick lowdown on what i need to source n what i can use off the current runing gear thanks

going to look at a car this week end

Mate I did this exact swap a couple of years ago. It's pretty straight forward but here goes.

You will need the box, engine, loom, mounts (or e34 m50 525 solid rubber ones), prop and diff a manual pedal box, somewhere to mount the coil pack (or do a coil on plug conversion, which is pretty easy and a neat solution) plus clutch pipework and master and slave cylinder and finally ecu. All this stuff you should be able to get off the donor.

You can use the m40 slushbox diff but it pretty much renders first gear useless and revs far too high on the motorway (it will be a 4.5 and the donor should have a 4.1). Any questions about this if you do it dont hesitate to drop me a pm. Will see if I can dig out my "rough guide" thread I did.
