M40 exhaust system

looking for some advice

For a track car, what is the general consensus on the m40 1.8 exhaust system in regard to centre box remaining or removed. There seems to be mixed views, feels, on whether there is a reduction in torque if centre box removed, and also pipe diameter.

has anyone dyno tested specific combinations, straight through no centre box, with, different size pipes, boxes etc etc
