m40 to m42 maunal swap

Well I'm looking at a car with an auto single overhead 4cyl... I don;t have the cash or resources to do an m50 swap but I know an m42 swap would be easy. I also have to convert to manual. So few questions; will the prop shaft work from the auto to the manual or do I need to source one? Can someone point me in the direction of a build thread?
