When swapping an M42 engine into a 316i touring would there be any advantage in changing the M40 under-tank fuel filter for the in-bay M42 filter? Obviously the hoses would need changing but is there any difference in flow rate through the filters?

I have a fairly new M42 filter which I imagine is in better condition than the one currently fitted to the touring.
