just finnished stripping the guts out of the m40 and made room for it in my shed ( stripped down on the front driveway)

hopefully my paint will turn up 2morro so i jet wash the block and gearbox and paint it that lovely Kawasaki green

do you know wether the m47 crank fits as i forgot i have one in my my shed

The long nose version fits the M42 with modification.

Can you get them both to your mates machine shop for a look?
It will be interesting to see a stroked 2.1L M40

i was hoping it would just be a slot in job like it is on the m44.

the m42 and the m40 block are the same if im not mistaken. so it should work with some machining if i can be bothered with it

do you know what the modification the m42 needs

The M40 is actually quite good for turbo, my brother runs a turbo on his M40, it made 318whp and 413wnm. This on 2.5 bar of boost. He has blown one original head gasket because of knocking because his map was roughly put together.

You need to cut a 2nd keyway in the nose right behind the original one. Then you have to add another plug to hold on the timing gear. It requires a half moon cutter to the same spec as the original keyway. Usual cost is about £45 at a machine shop.

im not sure wether il stroke im just concentrating on the head and fueling at the mo the bottom end is probably a job for next year
